Introduction
This side event convenes global experts to explore strategies strengthening health system resilience against climate threats—a foundation for SDG11 (Sustainable Cities). With 68% of the world's population projected to live in urban areas by 2050, enhancing climate health adaptation is urgent. The session examines how climate-resilient health infrastructure and services at city-level can make cities more inclusive, safe, and sustainable.
The main topic can include:
Urban Health Resilience: Heat-health action plans and green infrastructure protecting vulnerable communities
Early Warning Systems: Climate-health data integration to anticipate and respond to health risks
Climate-Proofed Facilities: Ensuring service continuity during extreme weather
Inclusive Urban Planning: Integrating climate health adaptation into city planning with participatory approaches engaging marginalized communities
Sustainable Technologies: Accessible climate change health adaptation technologies and products
Featuring climate scientists, urban health officials, and community leaders, the event fosters cross-sector dialogue on policy integration and equity-centered approaches—building climate-resilient health systems for safe, inclusive, and sustainable cities.
