Introduction

This side event, entitled “One Health for All: Synergistic Solutions Advancing SDG3 through Sustainable Science &Inclusive Innovation,” convenes global experts to explore integrated approaches for improving human, animal, and environmental health within the 2030 Agenda. Focused on SDG3 (Good Health and Well-being), the session highlights how evidence-based innovations—from AI-driven disease surveillance to low-carbon diagnostics — can bridge equity gaps while accelerating progress across the SDGs.

Key discussions will address:

l Inclusive Design: Co-creating technologies with marginalized populations to ensure “no one is left behind.”

l Climate-Health Nexus: Deploying nature-based solutions to combat zoonotic disease risks exacerbated by climate change.

l Data Justice: Establishing ethical frameworks for equitable health data governance in low-resource settings.

Featuring policymakers, indigenous knowledge holders, and tech innovators, the event will launch an Expert Consensus on Promoting a Global One Health Index — a roadmap for aligning R&D investments with SDG3 targets. Participants will gain actionable insights into leveraging cross-sector partnerships, from blockchain-enabled vaccine equity platforms to community-led digital health literacy programs.

The outcomes of this side event directly advance the STI Forum’s mandate to accelerate science-driven solutions for the SDGs by demonstrating how One Health-integrated Science &Technology  Innovation (STI) can catalyze systemic progress. By convening governments, academia, the private sector, NGOs, and marginalized communities, the event’s cross-cutting focus on ethics-driven innovation and capacity-building partnerships provides concrete inputs for the Forum’s 2025 Technology Facilitation Mechanism discussions. By bridging the One Health-STI-SDG3 nexus, this session strengthens the Forum’s role as a platform for catalytic, inclusive innovation ecosystems and promotes the Global One Health Index (GOHI) as a tool for evaluating the capacity to implement the One Health approach in the real world, ultimately accelerating the achievement of the 2030 Agenda.
